Hello, Internet!

Hopefully you've noticed I've "moved on" over here, and here, and here, and @here, and (now)here. But you're still out there, aren't you? I'm sorry I never log-in to read anymore. I have a beautiful stack of books in my bedroom to read, and a stack of DVDs to watch, and a long list of projects to accomplish.

You are here? That's lovely!

Because I interviewed BrokeNCYDE at Warped Tour a few weeks ago. I know, I'm out of my mind. It went better than expected, which is to say I spent the morning bemoaning and texting Julia my imagined fate. I was certain the interview would end after a few fat shaming comments with a punch to the face. Surprise! I wasn't punched. The band was all punched out from punching their puppies. I presume.

You can read the interview, and my pre-defense here: macaroonshindig.com. Enjoy!

Most of my photos are on film, and the darkroom hasn't opened yet, but I have a snapshot of Frank Carter from Gallows for your troubles:

Dear Internet,
JournalSpace died and Lifehacker points out that you really ought to back up your shit.

LiveJournal has a thing where you can save each month's entries as one XML file. It saves the mood, content, and (music? that other stuff) . It's meant to be something you can upload again, and it's not something a user with little tech knowledge could use elsewhere, but what's important is that it's easy and it saves your written entries (that are currently published, even though LiveJournal and search engines still have the entries you deleted).

Lifehacker lists options for backing up your hard drive, utilities that will help you, and more. It's kind of silly to think, "LiveJournal might crash and I will lose my LJ and I will be sad!" Yet if you updated your LJ every few days for the last year, LJ has hosted your memories, even if it was incoherent rambling about Doug E. Fresh. But your proms, weddings, graduation, nasty break up notes,  and AOL Instant Messenger conversations are there too. Or maybe it's not LiveJournal. Maybe it's Blogger (which has two ways). Or DeadJournal (is that still around?) or Xanga. Or TypePad (which HAS crashed).

I just want you happy, Internet.

Also, don't forget to back up your back up. I didn't, and because life wasn't without enough ANGST, my back up died before I did it (I don't have enough money!)

Love,
Katherine

Dear Internet,
Having a root canal finished is worse than taking one step off the curb into the crosswalk, getting hit by a car, flying into the air, bouncing all over the road, and subsequently fracturing your left leg in 4+ spots and your left arm in 4+ spots, and losing a whole lot of blood internally. It is certainly more traumatic, even when you add laying perfectly still in an all white room in a neck brace and a stranger saying, "It took a few hours but we found your other shoe!"

JUST THOUGHT YOU WOULD WANT TO KNOW.

Love,
Kitty

p/s You know you should RSS this, RIGHT?

Yes, internet, I know that this is today's comic. BUT I ALSO KNOW TODAY IS ERIN'S BIRTHDAY. And mine is Saturday, and darn if sharing cake isn't a good idea for anyone's birthday. Or sake martinis, YOU PICK.

What a week, Internet. I made it to Friday! You made it to Friday! Can you believe it? I can't. It's 9:02 a.m. and I'm ready to go to bed. And sleep in. If you did, I wouldn't blame you.

mid-week shameless update. i need the hits to boost my morale. hard week, even with the election, and everywhere i turn, someone is saying something incredibly hateful. so i sit at my desk and pretend i don't want to cry. because i want so much more and i want to be able to say something, but this isn't a time or place where i can. my jaw hurts from clenching it.

DC Transit Examiner has been making people angry. Apparently I've never been to school, don't know how to read, and am a communist. This is okay, except only Julia understands, and that makes me a little lonely. I'm on the fence about the commenting. I think it's important to include discourse and I think the benefits of responding are strong, but it goes against the policy of real news reporting. But should it? I'm not sure.

"What do you think will happen on election day?" by Alice Bradley in Wonderland. The best parts are the drinking and the sundaes. Those are my plans, celebrate or drown my sorrows in the same way. While blogging and Googling (GOOGLING A NEW PLACE TO LIVE.)

All of my tools in Flickr, Bloggr, and Examinr won't let me post here. Which is WEAK, LiveJournal, because maybe I DON'T FEEL LIKE LOGGING IN.*

I took photos in NYC this weekend. I post a few grainy digital files a day.
I have a post about Fallout 3. I want to know how you dis/agree.
It's been unfortunate weather. I drove with my brights on last night at 7 p.m. in Walkersville. The sun hadn't actually set yet; the sky was blanketed with black clouds. I finally hit a patch where I could see the sky and it was bright blue. It was the same at 7 a.m. I'm waiting for zombies to rise from the Monocacy and approach my house through the farms on Stauffer Road. I haven't read 30 Days of Night. I need to prepare.

Blah blah blah link, see you Friday.

It's been a crummy week. I need people around me.
